ABOUT NECSG

North East Community Support Group Inc. (NECSG) is the incorporated body that auspices Zillmere Community Centre (ZCC), Zillmere Young Peoples Support Services (ZYPSS) and the Zillmere Family Accommodation Program (ZFAP).

Our mission is to work towards providing quality community support programs in line with changing needs and the provision of services and activities targeted to alleviate poverty, homelessness, distress, disability, isolation and unemployment.

The North East Community Support Group Inc. (NECSG) had its origins in 1982 as the Bracken Ridge Family and Youth Support Group (BFYS) at Bracken Ridge. BFYS was successful in developing a range of programs including:

• Family Emergency Accommodation Program (1984)
• Family Support Program (1984)
• Youth Employment Program (1984)
• Vacation Care Programs (1985)
• Out of Hours School Care Program (1987)

Bracken Ridge Family and Youth Support Group Inc was formed as the result of a survey conducted by a student on Bramble Bay and the Environs. Bracken Ridge was identified as a area of high need, with the main focus on the need to help youth in the area. The group was incorporated on 21st June 1985.

BFYS became three smaller organisations, changing name and incorporating on the 6th July, 1990, as North East Community Support Group Inc. In 1992, North East Community Support Group Inc. moved to Zillmere with two of BFYS's original programs, Emergency Accommodation and Youth Employment.

NECSG has continued to grow over the years sponsoring many programs.
